Job summary

City of Loveland is seeking a Water Quality Scientist II to lead advanced analytical chemistry work on water and wastewater samples. The role includes managing organic, inorganic, QA/QC and laboratory operations programs, developing new methods, and ensuring regulatory compliance across treated water systems.

The position may require evenings, weekends, and holidays with floating holidays. Requires a 4-year degree and 5 years of relevant lab experience, plus valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in chemistry, biology, environmental science or related field.
• 5 years' experience in water/wastewater municipal or commercial laboratory performing complex organic/inorganic analysis with GC-MS and/or ICP-MS.
• Graduate degree preferred in biology, chemistry or related science.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for public health and environment.
• Manage and oversee organic and inorganic analytical programs, QA/QC and safety officer roles.
• Develop and implement Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs) for studies.
• Perform advanced chemical and microbiological analyses on water, wastewater, source water and sludge.
• Provide technical expertise and training to operations staff for plant optimization.
