Job summary

ERWSD in Colorado seeks a Laboratory Analyst to perform water and wastewater sample collection and laboratory analyses to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role supports a small team with organization, attention to detail, and prioritization skills.

Qualifications

• Education & experience requirements: High school diploma or GED; Lab Analyst I requires 3+ years of lab analysis experience; college coursework or a science degree may substitute.
• Certification: must obtain Colorado water distribution/treatment or wastewater certification within 1 year.
• Technical skills: knowledge of chemistry/biochemistry and lab analysis techniques preferred.
• Communication & computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office; strong written/verbal communication with customers and regulators.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license within 30 days and be insurable.
• Must obtain CPR/First Aid within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Lab Analysis: perform microbiological, chemical, biochemical, nutrient, and physical analyses on drinking water, wastewater, and surface water samples.
• Field Work: collect samples and parameters from District sites and waterways; operate data loggers.
• Data & Reporting: record data, perform calculations, enter results into LIMS, create reports for regulatory submissions.
• Equipment & Maintenance: prepare reagents, calibrate and maintain lab equipment, keep lab clean and safe.
• Customer Service & Compliance: provide regulatory compliance guidance to internal and external customers.
