Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of laboratory analysis experience for Analyst I.
• Colorado certification within one year of employment (Water Distribution, Water Treatment, Wastewater Collection, or Wastewater Treatment).
• Working knowledge of chemistry and laboratory analysis techniques.
• Must be 18+ and possess a valid Colorado driver's license; CPR/First Aid within two years.

Responsibilities

• Lab Analysis: microbiological, chemical, biochemical, nutrient, and physical analyses of water samples.
• Field Work: collect samples from District sites and deploy QC data loggers.
• Data & Reporting: record data, perform calculations, and enter results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Equipment & Maintenance: prepare reagents, calibrate and maintain lab equipment.
• Customer Service & Compliance: advise on regulatory compliance and respond to inquiries.

• Customer Service & Compliance: Provide consultation to internal and external customers on regulatory compliance; respond to inquiries from the public and other agencies.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Laboratory Analyst I requires a minimum of three years of experience performing laboratory analysis. Relevant college coursework or a bachelor's degree in a scientific field may substitute for some or all of the experience requirement.
• Certification: Laboratory Analysts must possess, or obtain within one year of employment, a State of Colorado Water Distribution, Water Treatment, Wastewater Collection, or Wastewater Treatment certification (any level).
• Technical Skills: Working knowledge of chemistry/biochemistry principles and laboratory analysis techniques (microbiological, chemical, biochemical, and nutrient testing) preferred.
• Communication & Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customers, coworkers, and regulatory agencies.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License within 30 days of employment and be insurable under District standards.
• Must obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within the first two years of employment.

Schedule

This role will work Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Salary Range

There are three levels of Laboratory Analyst with different titles and pay ranges depending on certifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The District will support you in earning your licenses. Pay range and title depend on certifications and experience. Starting range depends on qualifications but generally falls within the minimum and midpoint of the pay range. Pay ranges for each level are as follows:

• Laboratory Analyst I: $32.11 – $44.96
• Laboratory Analyst II: $35.41 – $49.56
• Senior Lab Analyst: $37.18 - $52.05
