Job summary

The City of Greensboro, NC is seeking a Water Quality Flushing Crew Supervisor to lead the Flushing Team across the city's water distribution system, coordinating daily field work, GIS mapping, and data entry, while serving as a main point of contact for customer inquiries.

You will supervise staff including regular employees, part-time and temp workers, ensure accurate timekeeping, maintain records, and communicate clearly with stakeholders to uphold water quality and public trust.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year experience in water distribution or related field.
• Valid Driver's License.
• NC AWWA-C Distribution license.
• NC AWWA Meter Tech Certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all members of the Flushing Team, including regular City employees, part-time, roster, and temporary employees.
• Answer and respond to customer inquiries related to flushing activities and the City’s drinking water supply.
• Maintain positive public relations and help build and maintain public trust in the City's water quality.
• Use GIS mapping, databases, and mobile platforms to track and direct work throughout the water distribution system.
• Coordinate and monitor flushing activities and related field work.
• Complete and maintain paperwork associated with work orders and employee performance.
• Monitor and maintain accurate employee timekeeping records.
• Communicate effectively with employees, customers, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
• Provide clear verbal and written communication regarding work activities and operational needs.
• Support consistent team performance, accountability, and attendance.

The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is seeking a dependable, organized, and service-focused Water Quality Flushing Crew Supervisor to lead the team responsible for supporting the City’s water distribution system and maintaining public confidence in the quality of Greensboro’s drinking water. This position combines team leadership, field coordination, technology, documentation, and customer service to keep the Flushing Program operating effectively.

The Water Resources Department provides essential water and wastewater services that protect public health, support the community, and help ensure reliable infrastructure. Within the water distribution system, the Flushing Program plays an important role in maintaining water quality and responding to customer needs. Compensation and Benefits

Estimated Hiring Salary Range: $53,903.00 - $61,603.00 Full Salary Range: $46,818.00 - $83,780.00 Annually

About the Role:

As the Water Quality Flushing Crew Supervisor, you will oversee the Flushing Team and coordinate daily activities throughout the City's water distribution system. You will serve as a key point of contact for customer inquiries while ensuring work is properly assigned, tracked, documented, and completed. This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
