Job summary

HKA Enterprises is seeking a Waterworks Operator to support flushing, monitoring, and maintenance of a non-potable water distribution system in Florida.

This temporary role lasts about 4 months with potential transition to full-time depending on staffing needs and project status. Pay is $16.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Florida Driver's License.
• Experience with water delivery systems and water quality monitoring/flushing.
• Ability to operate water distribution infrastructure (valves, hydrants, blow-offs).
• Ability to read blueprints, plats, maps and diagrams.
• Ability to complete field data records.

Responsibilities

• Perform flushing tasks on the non-potable water distribution system using flushing equipment and technologies.
• Monitor and check water quality in the distribution system.
• Review utility maps to determine flow, valve locations, and proper flushing points.
• Operate valves, hydrants, and blow-offs to restore and maintain water quality.
• Maintain and operate monitoring equipment, ensuring QA/QC procedures are followed.
• Implement flushing plans using GIS and Cityworks tracking technologies.
• Prepare written/electronic reports on maintenance, water quality, and customer complaints.
• Monitor, schedule, and track completion of preventative/corrective maintenance.
• Collect and maintain water quality data; evaluate historical trends.
• Maintain inventory of parts and tools for flushing operations.
• Report to Lead Flushing Technician.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform flushing tasks on the non-potable water distribution system using flushing equipment and technologies
• Monitor and check water quality in the distribution system
• Review utility maps to determine flow, valve locations, and proper flushing points
• Operate valves, hydrants, and blow-offs to restore and maintain water quality
• Maintain and operate monitoring equipment, ensuring QA/QC procedures are followed
• Implement flushing plans using GIS and Cityworks tracking technologies
• Prepare written/electronic reports on maintenance, water quality, and customer complaints
• Monitor, schedule, and track completion of preventative/corrective maintenance

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED

• Skilled utilities field experience, including water delivery systems, water quality monitoring/flushing, and related inspections
• Ability to operate water distribution infrastructure (valves, hydrants, blow-offs)
• Ability to perform water quality monitoring using field test equipment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plats, maps, and diagrams
• Ability to complete written or electronic field data records

Preferred Qualifications

• Availability to work varied schedules, including emergency/disaster situations
