Job summary

City of Gainesville, GA is seeking a field technician to collect water and wastewater samples across the distribution system. Responsibilities include using probes, recording chlorine and pH, calibrating equipment, and maintaining sampling gear. The role supports regulatory compliance and the city’s sewer use ordinance.

Strong physical ability and willingness to work in varied weather are essential. Education includes a High School Diploma; water/wastewater experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Water/wastewater experience preferred.
• Knowledge of sampling techniques and procedures.
• Ability to use automatic and manual samplers.
• Ability to distinguish colors during chlorine tests.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and keep records.

Responsibilities

• Collect potable water and wastewater samples from various distribution and collection system locations.
• Work with field probes and analyzers to record chlorine, pH, and other parameters.
• Calibrate field probes and document results.
• Maintain sampling equipment and transport vessels; operate in laboratory if qualified.
• Assist with Grease Trap Program sampling and regulatory compliance.
• Be subject to recall during emergencies and perform related duties as required.
