Job summary

City of Gainesville, GA is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Operator to support the plant in treating wastewater to meet standards. You will assist operators, collect samples, run tests, and monitor equipment to ensure safe, compliant plant operations.

No prior experience is required, but a High School Diploma or GED is required and a Class III Wastewater Operator License must be obtained within one year. A valid driver’s license is also required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required.
• Must obtain Class III Wastewater Treatment Operator License within one year.
• Valid Class C Driver's License and satisfactory MVR.
• Applicants may need to pass a math/science pre-employment exam.

Responsibilities

• Assist WRF Operators on any shift.
• Treat wastewater to meet environmental standards.
• Collect samples and perform tests (solids, pH, jar tests).
• Record measurements and notify operators of abnormalities.
• Check calibration of chemical feed pumps every two hours.
• Adjust sludge valves and operate pumps as needed.
• Mix polymers and monitor filtrate and solids tests.
• Maintain and clean equipment and facilities.
• Provide shift coverage when others are on leave.
• Recall to duty in emergencies.
