Job summary

Gfoat is seeking a Water/Wastewater Laboratory Technician to perform regular physical, bacteriological, and chemical analyses during treatment processes. You will maintain QA records and sample chains of custody while ensuring compliance with EPA and TCEQ standards.

You will calibrate instruments daily, assist in investigations of water quality concerns, and collaborate with city staff and consultants. A valid Texas Driver's License and high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Must have or be able to receive and maintain a Grade C Wastewater Operator’s Certificate within two years of hire.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public, city employees, and contractors in a courteous manner.
• Ability to read, write and distinguish colors.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting tasks weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular physical, bacteriological and chemical analysis of water and wastewater.
• Conduct daily tests using EPA and TCEQ approved methods.
• Maintain laboratory records per state requirements and QA procedures.
• Collect and handle samples with chain of custody records.
• Calibrate laboratory instruments daily and document QA activities.
• Investigate citizen complaints about water quality and report results to the public.
• Maintain inventory of lab supplies and spare parts.
• Work with Industrial Waste Inspector to enforce regulations.
• Ship plant toxicity samples to outside labs for analysis.
• Perform tests to ensure landfill compliance with standards.
