Job summary

City of Yuma, Arizona seeks a part-time Water Systems Quality Control Technician to support the Department of Utilities in maintaining safe and compliant water distribution. The role involves flushing activities, sample collection, and basic water quality testing under supervision.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and relevant laboring experience; AZ driver’s license is required and ADEQ Grade 1 certification must be earned within one year of appointment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Laborer, plumbing, construction, or maintenance experience preferred.
• ADEQ Water Distribution System Operator's Grade 1 certification required within one year of appointment.
• Valid Arizona Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Makes independent water quality assessments to correct distribution system water quality issues through flushing.
• Operates water distribution infrastructure including valves, hydrants and blow-offs to flush and maintain water quality.
• Reviews maps to determine water source, flushing locations, and updates supervisor on corrections.
• Operates programmable equipment to control flushing devices for water quality compliance.
• Responds to customer inquiries and reports information to supervisor.
• Maintains safety precautions and confidentiality of work-related information.
