Job summary

City of St. Joseph seeks a Superintendent of Water Protection to lead the wastewater treatment plant's operations, budgeting, and regulatory liaison duties.

You will supervise staff, ensure 24/7 operations, manage permits, and coordinate with regulators, consultants, and contractors. A Missouri Class A wastewater certification and 10+ years in BN removal plant management are required.

Qualifications

• Missouri Class A wastewater certification required.
• Minimum ten years in operation/management of a 10 MGD+BNR plant.
• Ability to interpret and abide by federal, state and local laws.
• Strong oral and written communications skills.
• Budgeting, procurement and staff supervision experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and report information required by permitting agencies.
• Oversee department purchasing, budgeting, and expenditures.
• Supervise biological nutrient removal plant operations and related processes.
• Plan future operation and maintenance projects for the division.
• Supervise staff and coordinate personnel-related matters.
• Serve as primary contact with regulators, consultants, and contractors.
• Oversee pretreatment program and storm sewer system permitting.
• Monitor laboratory analyses and plant operating parameters.
• Develop staff skills through coaching and training.
