Job summary

AE2S seeks a Water Project Manager to lead civil water projects in Rapid City, SD or Spearfish, SD. You will direct project teams, manage budgets, maintain client relationships, and pursue new opportunities while delivering high-quality results on time.

Required are a civil engineering degree and PE licensure, with 5+ years in municipal water engineering. Strong communication, travel readiness, and remote project management experience are essential aspects of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• PE licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience in municipal civil engineering and water market sectors.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional services for water engineering projects including planning, study, design, and construction administration.
• Manage performance of project team members and coordinate with engineers and technicians.
• Maintain client relationships and pursue new opportunities.
• Ensure quality control and budget/schedule adherence.
• Mentor team members and participate in internal/external meetings.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the performance of project team members and will work closely with team members to provide high-quality deliverables on time and on budget to AE2S clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional services for water engineering projects to include planning, study, design, and construction administration on projects
• Manage performance of assigned project team members including Project Engineers, Junior Engineers, and Technicians
• Maintain existing client relationships and enhance pursued relationships with clients
• Identify, evaluate, pursue, and manage project opportunities
• Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work
• Maintain budgets and schedules of project assignments
• Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings
• Provide mentorship for team members.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
• Registration as a Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 6 months
• 5+ years of experience in municipal civil engineering, with a strong interest in the water market sector (Drinking Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Water Resources)
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development
• Ability to work remotely and manage projects, clients, and project team members
• Knowledge of design standards and permitting

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
• 8+ years of experience in municipal water engineering (Drinking Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Water Resources)
• Project management experience
• Knowledge of project financials & funding programs

Physical Qualifications

• Ability to walk up to 3-miles on uneven terrain
• Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
• Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
• Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
• May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
• Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear
• May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
• May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
