Job summary

AE2S, a 100% employee-owned engineering firm, is seeking a Project Manager in Rapid City to lead water and infrastructure projects, manage a project team, and deliver high-quality work on time and on budget. The responsibilities include maintaining client relationships, pursuing new project opportunities, ensuring quality control, and mentoring team members; travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 5+ years in municipal civil engineering, water market focus.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Ability to travel for project and business development.
  • Ability to work remotely and manage projects, clients, and team members.
  • Knowledge of design standards and permitting.
  • Pre-employment checks (background, drug screen, MVR) may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional services for water engineering projects incl planning, study, design, and construction administration.
  • Manage performance of assigned project team members including Project Engineers, Junior Engineers, and Technicians.
  • Maintain existing client relationships and enhance pursued relationships with clients.
  • Identify, evaluate, pursue, and manage project opportunities.
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work.
  • Maintain budgets and schedules of project assignments.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings.
  • Provide mentorship for team members.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 5+ years of experience in municipal civil engineering, with a strong interest in the water market sector (Drinking Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Water Resources)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development
  • Ability to work remotely and manage projects, clients, and project team members
  • Knowledge of design standards and permitting
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in municipal water engineering (Drinking Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Water Resources)
  • Knowledge of project financials & funding programs
Physical Qualifications
  • Ability to walk up to 3-miles on uneven terrain
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear
  • May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
  • May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
