Under the guidance of the Water Production Supervisor and/or their designated representative, performs routine duties to maintain the City’s potable water system. Coordinates regulatory sampling with outside agencies as needed. Inspects and maintains potable and non-potable water facilities, including chlorination systems. Investigates water quality concerns within the distribution system. Maintains records and submits sampling data for regulatory reporting. Responds to emergencies as an essential personnel, including during disasters or emergencies as directed by the Director of Public Works.
Responsibilities include:
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, one year of water distribution or treatment experience, a Class “D” TCEQ Water Operator License or opportunity for reciprocity, and a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable record.
Preferred qualifications include two years of relevant experience, experience with regulatory sampling, and a Class “C” TCEQ Groundwater or Surface Water Treatment License.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
Physical demands include standing, walking, handling equipment, reaching, stooping, climbing, and working at heights. The work environment involves exposure to weather, chemicals, high places, noise, and potential hazards, requiring appropriate safety measures and PPE.
