Job summary

City of Whittier is seeking a Water Production Specialist to operate and maintain water treatment, booster, and telemetry systems under general supervision. You will assist in scheduling, provide lead direction to staff, and ensure safe testing and reporting.

Responsibilities include developing work schedules, liaising with vendors, training new employees, and maintaining records of plant operations. The role requires a Class C driver's license and Grade III Water Treatment Operator

Qualifications

• Three years of journey-level experience in water treatment and a high school diploma.
• Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license.
• Grade III certification as Water Treatment Operator.

Responsibilities

• Assist in safe operation, testing, and maintenance of water treatment systems.
• Prepare routine reports and maintain plant operation records.
• Assist in equipment installation and purchasing; liaise with vendors.
• Provide lead direction to staff; train new employees and participate in evaluations.
• Establish relationships with community groups and agencies.
