The City of Lynchburg is seeking a Water Plant Class 1 Operator in the Water Resources Department. The role supports operation of the Water Treatment plants with 12-hour day/night shifts, 2 days on/2 days off, year-round. Class 1 license preferred; LICENSE flexibility available for lower classes.

Starting pay ranges from 26.62 to 35.69 per hour, with benefits and shift differential. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED; further education in science/engineering is desirable.

Qualifikationen

• Class 1 Waterworks Operator License is preferred, but a lower class license may be considered.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical coursework in science/engineering desirable.
• Background checks must be completed and approved; willingness to complete NIMS training within 90 days.

Aufgaben

• Operates pumps, control panels, feeders, filters, motors and other water plant equipment to produce potable water.
• Monitors meters and adjusts valves to maintain constant water flow.
• Conducts routine physical and chemical tests of water samples and records results.
• Backwashes filters as needed and handles chemicals safely.
• Responds to emergencies and citizen service calls; performs minor repairs as required.
