Job Description: No job description can include all duties that may be requested by guests or required by the resort. The primary goal of all positions is to effectively provide services or refer requests to the appropriate department manager. Below is a summary of the major responsibilities for the Water Treatment Plant Operator position.

Position: Water Treatment Plant Operator

Department: Engineering / Water Company

Purpose: To ensure the water treatment plant, supply, and distribution system are well maintained, reflecting an image of outstanding quality, and to provide safe & clean water in accordance with federal, state & local legislation, policies & standards.

Reports to: Director of Engineering / Water Plant Manager

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain all aspects of the water treatment plant to ensure the availability of a clean and safe water supply.
2. Possess and maintain a Virginia Class 3 waterworks license.
3. Maintain the treatment plant systems, including rotating remote monitoring.
4. Operate and maintain filtering & chemical treatment processes.
5. Service & repair water treatment plant equipment such as intakes, piping, storage vessels, chemical treatment controls, pumps & valves.
6. Maintain the water supply system to ensure adequate water levels year-round, regardless of weather.
7. Ensure safe and continuous water delivery to all customers through the distribution system.
8. Assist the plumbing team in maintaining the water distribution system from the plant to the endpoints.
9. Order supplies, replacement parts, and fuel for the water treatment plant.
10. Conduct water tests and keep detailed records.
11. Maintain proper chemical levels.
12. Operate generators during power outages.
13. Read meters monthly and maintain daily logs.
14. Repair and maintain municipal water infrastructure, including valves, piping, meters, and hydrants.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Tools and Equipment:

• Computer, telephone, pen/pencil, printer/copier.
• Power, shop, & hand tools.
• Test instruments.

Working Environment:

• Interior of water treatment plant in a noisy environment.
• All areas of the resort property.
• Exterior with exposure to all weather conditions.
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Qualifications:

• Must have and maintain a Virginia Class 3 Waterworks Operators License or higher.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
