Job Description

No Job Description for a position can possibly include all duties which may be requested by guests or required by the resort. The objective of all positions is to effectively provide the services personally, or to immediately refer requests to the appropriate department manager. The following is a summary of the major responsibilities of the position.

Water Treatment Plant Operator

Department: Engineering / Water Company

Purpose: To ensure the water treatment plant, supply and distribution system is well maintained and reflects an image of outstanding quality and to provide safe & clean water in accordance with federal, state & local legislation, policies & standards.

Reports to: Director of Engineering / Water Plant Manager

Responsibilities

1. Maintain all aspects of the water treatment plant to ensure the availability of a clean and safe water supply.
2. Position requires Virginia Class 3 waterworks license.
3. Maintain the treatment plant systems. Rotating remote monitoring schedule required.
4. Maintain & operate the filtering & chemical treatment processes.
5. Service & repair water treatment plant equipment including intakes, piping, storage vessels, chemical treatment equipment controls, pumps & valves.
6. Maintain water supply system to ensure adequate levels of water are available for treatment at all times of year and regardless of weather.
7. Maintain water distribution system to ensure safe and clean water is delivered to all customers with minimal interruption.
8. Aid plumbing team in maintaining water distribution system from water plant to the ends of the distribution system.
9. Order supplies, replacement parts and fuel for water treatment plant equipment.
10. Complete water tests and keep records.
11. Maintain appropriate chemical levels.
12. Ensure the operation of generators during power outages.
13. Read meters monthly.
14. Maintain daily logs.
15. Repair & maintain municipal water supply, including valves, piping, meters & hydrants.
16. Other duties as necessary.

Tools and Equipment:

1. Computer, telephone, pen/pencil, printer/copier.
2. Power, shop & hand tools.
3. Test instruments.

Working Environment:

1. Interior of water treatment plant in a noisy environment.
2. All areas of the resort property.
3. Exterior with exposure to all weather conditions.
4. Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.

Qualifications

1. Must have and maintain a Virginia Class 3 Water works Operators License or higher.
2. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
3. Standing for long periods of time.
