Job summary

City of Savannah is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support the Water Supply & Treatment operations. The role involves diagnosing and repairing HVAC, electrical, structural, plumbing, and pool equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and maintaining landscaping and facilities. Location is Port Wentworth, GA.

The duty set includes upkeep of water quality systems, backflow devices, and safety checks; background checks and post-offer medical screening apply. Valid driver's license required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent; six (6) months of related maintenance experience necessary.
• A valid state driver's license is required; acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot basic maintenance problems involving HVAC, electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement; perform carpentry, painting, or related repair or installation.
• Perform various repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Maintain landscaping, storm drainage, irrigation systems, backflow prevention devices, fencing, and security systems.
• Monitor water quality and chemistry; install and calibrate chlorination controllers; service pool equipment.
• Estimate repair costs, requisition equipment and supplies, supervise work for quality and safety, and inspect completed work.
• Conduct general maintenance duties including cleaning buildings, parking structures, restrooms, and surrounding areas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
