Job summary

Lincoln Water System at the Ashland Water Plant seeks an Assistant Water Plant Operator to support operators with SCADA-based monitoring of wells, treatment, and transmission systems. The role involves sample collection, lab analyses, inspections, and coordinating with the on-duty operator on lab results and chemical feed equipment.

Shift work is based on seniority with training hours 7–3, then rotates to evening and night shifts; candidate must obtain Nebraska Grade IV license within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months experience or training in mechanical maintenance or operating pumps and valves.
• Must obtain Nebraska Grade IV Water Operators License within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor water infrastructure using SCADA systems.
• Collect water samples and conduct laboratory analyses.
• Inspect facilities and report suspected equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel.
• Coordinate with on-duty Water Plant Operator regarding lab results and process controls.
