Job summary

CWS in North Carolina is seeking a dedicated Water Operator to manage the operation, maintenance, and supervision of the water distribution and treatment system.

You will service pumps, monitor meters, collect samples for lab testing, and keep accurate records while adhering to safety regulations. Weekend/on-call work may be required, and lifting up to 50 lbs is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior or current water operator certification strongly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records required.
• Experience within a water treatment environment.
• Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Reads, writes, compiles and analyzes data and reports daily.
• Ability to monitor control panels, gauges and meters to ensure proper plant operation.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains water distribution system including servicing of pumps, motors, valves, generators and equipment.
• Maintains pump stations.
• Performs sample collection, preparation, and laboratory testing.
• Maintains records, performs data entry, and provides detailed reporting.
• Ensures completion of work assignments within deadlines and in compliance with safety regulations.
• Analyzes and evaluates pump equipment, troubleshoots malfunctions, and monitors water operations.
• Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs of equipment and infrastructure.
• Performs facility grounds maintenance including cleaning equipment and tanks; basic landscape tasks.
• Performs other related duties as directed.
