Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED and a minimum of six month year professional work experience, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of computers.
• Good verbal communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work closely and effectively with co-workers and to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
• Must pass a controlled substance (drug) test for employment.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Drive an Authority vehicle or provide directions using a map to locate meters to be read.
• Read meters on a scheduled basis using tools/equipment to access and read meters in meter boxes and vaults.
• Register meter readings and related information in handheld device or manual meter book.
• Identify and report unusual conditions to a supervisor or dispatcher.
• Perform meter changes and routine service orders.
• Maintain Authority vehicles, equipment and tools in safe condition.
• Perform essential work during emergencies or severe weather.
