Qualifications

• High school diploma required with 2 years in water meter installation or reading, or equivalent work in water mains/services.
• Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with City policies.
• CDL (Class A/B/C) may be required before end of probation period depending on department.
• Pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical are required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains large and small water meters and meter reading equipment.
• Installs, repairs and exchanges meters and associated equipment.
• Operates meter services truck and uses hand tools for meter maintenance.
• Investigates billing complaints and reads at locations including vacant properties.
• Checks for leaks and communicates with customers.
• Uses maps to locate and read distant meters.
• Inspects work by licensed plumbers and rechecks original reads.
