Job summary

AllClear Underground Solutions, part of MME, seeks a Water Meter and Water Line Technician to replace residential meters, install and repair water lines, and support modernization efforts. Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Experience in construction/underground utilities, water meters or water service lines preferred.
• Experience making water service taps and installing copper water lines preferred.
• Basic knowledge of residential plumbing and water-service components preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with common hand tools.
• Ability to work with copper, PVC and other piping materials.
• Open-cut excavation, backfilling and safe utility work preferred.
• Ability to use GPS devices, tablets and work-order software.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Work independently and as part of a crew; meet daily production.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime when required.
• Dependable work ethic and commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Water meter replacement: remove old meters and install new meters per specs.
• Ensure meters are aligned, oriented, leak-free and properly connected.
• Record serial numbers and meter readings; document work with tablets.
• Perform water service taps and install copper service lines per specs.
• Open-cut installation/repair of underground water service lines.
• Assist with excavation, backfilling, and restoration around sites.
• Coordinate with customers and ensure safe, professional service.

PositionSummary

TheWaterMeterandWaterLineTechnicianreplacesresidentialwatermetersandperformsopen-cutwaterservicelineinstallationandrepair.Responsibilitiesincludemakingwaterservicetaps,installingandreplacingcopperwaterlines,connectingservicefittings,andrestoringworkareas.

Thispositionalsosupportsutilitymodernizationbyreplacingmanual-readmeters,typicallyrangingfrom5/8inchto1inch,withAdvancedMeteringInfrastructure(AMI)orAutomatedMeterReading(AMR)technology.

KeyResponsibilities

WaterMeterReplacement

• Removeexistingresidentialwatermetersandinstallnewmetersaccordingtoprojectrequirementsandmanufacturerspecifications.


• Ensuremetersareproperlyaligned,correctlyoriented,securelyconnected,andfreeofleaks.


• Meetdailyproductionexpectationswhilemaintainingsafety,accuracy,andquality.


• Recordmeterserialnumbers,finalreadingsfromremovedmeters,andinitialreadingsfromnewlyinstalledmeters.


• Usetablets,GPS-enableddevices,andmobilework-ordersoftwaretodocumentcompletedworkaccurately.


• Performrequiredpressureandleakcheckstoconfirmproperinstallationandsaferestorationofwaterservice.


• Identifyandreportleakingvalves,corrodedpipes,damagedmeterboxes,andobstructedaccess.


• Cleanmeterboxes,securelyreplacelids,andrestoresurroundingproperty.

WaterLineInstallationandOpen-CutWork

• Performopen-cutinstallation,repair,andreplacementofundergroundwaterservicelines.


• Performwaterservicetapsandinstallservicesaddles,corporationstops,curbstops,andrelatedfittingsaccordingtoutilityspecificationsandcompanyprocedures.


• Run,connect,repair,andreplacecopperwaterservicelinesbetweenthewatermain,meter,anddesignatedserviceconnectionpoints.


• Cut,size,andjoincopperandotherapprovedwaterservicepipingusingappropriatetoolsandfittings.


• Assistwithexcavation,trenchpreparation,pipebedding,backfilling,compaction,andrestorationofdisturbedareas.


• Workaroundexistingundergroundutilitiesandfollowutility-location,safedigging,andtrenchprotectionprocedures.


• Flushinstalledorrepairedlinesandcompleterequiredpressureandleaktestingbeforeplacingthemintoservice.


• Reportdamagedutilities,unsafeexcavationconditions,andunexpectedfieldconditionspromptly.

CustomerServiceandGeneralDuties

• Notifyresidentsprofessionallybeforetemporarilyshuttingoffwaterservice.


• Answerbasiccustomerquestionsaboutmeterreplacementandwaterservicework.


• Maintaincleanvehicles,tools,equipment,uniforms,andworkareas.


• Assistwithloading,unloading,andorganizingmaterialsandequipment.


• Followcompanysafetyproceduresandwearrequiredpersonalprotectiveequipment.

Qualifications
