Job summary

Salt Lake City Corporation is seeking a Water Maintenance Support Worker to operate and maintain water system equipment and assist with repairs and safety measures in the field. This role requires CDL Class A, backhoe operation skills, and the ability to respond to emergencies on a 24‑hour call basis.

You will work under supervision to manage barricades, signs, valves, and hydrants, perform routine and specialized maintenance, and coordinate with dispatch for safety and material needs.

Qualifications

• Three years paid work experience performing water system maintenance and repair.
• Certification required or ability to obtain within six months in Confined Space Entry, Trench and Shoring, Flagging and Traffic Control, and Forklift Operation.
• Demonstrated ability to respond to emergencies including 24‑hr call‑out.
• Must comply with UDOT physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water system equipment and vehicles.
• Assist with installation and repair of pipes, hydrants, valves; backfill and excavations.
• Monitor and replace barricades, signs, and traffic control devices.
• Coordinate with dispatch for safety orders and material pickups.
• Maintain records of site inspections, actions taken, and daily lists for supervisor.
