Job summary

Great Lakes Water Authority in Detroit, MI is seeking a Field Services Technician-1 to repair and maintain water mains, hydrants, valves and appurtenances across the system. You will operate cranes, vactor trucks, and power tools, read maps, and complete required documentation.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, CDL-A with N endorsement, and a willingness to work varying shifts and on-call emergencies. Training and safety procedures are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Reasonable knowledge of tools, methods, materials and practices used in repairing heavy machinery and equipment.
• CDL-A with N endorsement required to obtain within 1 year of employment.
• S5 Certification may be required for Level 2.

Responsibilities

• Operate portable cranes, vactor truck, construction power tools and pneumatic tools to repair water mains and valves.
• Read maps and gate books; perform testing and operability assessments on valves.
• Perform preventative maintenance and document job details accurately.
• Work in confined spaces and high-traffic areas; ensure safety and PPE compliance.
• Provide on-the-job training and assist in yard duties as needed.
