Job summary

The City of Detroit, Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, seeks a Field Service Technician to install, service start-ups, test and troubleshoot water mains, hydrants, meters and related equipment across the service area.

Responsibilities include meter testing, MIU installations, and supporting two-man dig crews while maintaining safety and equipment reliability. CDL-A preferred; work may require outdoor duties and weather exposure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience repairing and assembling water meters and meter parts preferred.
• Valid Michigan Driver's License with CDL-A preferred or required for some duties.

Responsibilities

• Repair broken water mains and hydrants in service area.
• Perform water service repairs, meter changes, testing and calibration.
• Operate field laptop to receive, update and close work orders.
• Follow safety policies, wear PPE, and drive as needed.
• Assist crews and participate in two-man dig operations and leak crew tasks.
