Job summary

This is a Permanent Part Time (Non-Exempt) Lab Intern role in an Oklahoma laboratory and water treatment setting. It requires 20 hours per week with most shifts Monday–Wednesday between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

The position involves assisting the lab technician and manager with sample collection and analysis, instrumentation calibration and maintenance, data entry and reporting, plus lab cleaning, reagent prep, inventory, and handling citizen inquiries.

Qualifications

• One year of college or vocational/technical school or laboratory experience.
• Completion of one course in microbiology is preferred.
• A college degree is preferred.
• Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and satisfactory driving record; must obtain an OK Department of Environmental Quality Water Lab Operator's Certification Class C within six months; Class B license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist lab tech and lab manager with sample collection, sample analysis, instrument calibration and maintenance, data entry and reporting.
• Lab cleaning, reagent prep, lab organization, inventory upkeep, addressing citizen concerns, and other tasks as assigned.
• Practice laboratory safety and conduct themselves in a safe and courteous manner while in the field.
