Job summary

GHD in the Scranton, PA area is seeking a Design Manager to lead multidiscipline design efforts for water and wastewater projects, supporting growth in Northeast Pennsylvania. You will organize the technical team, manage the design path, solve complex problems, and drive project delivery to meet client expectations.

The role requires a strong background in civil/environmental/chemical engineering, 6+ years in design delivery, and experience in consulting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil/Environmental/Chemical Engineering or related field; EIT and PE preferred
• Minimum 6 years in design delivery for water/wastewater, industrial or related facilities
• Previous consulting experience is strongly desired
• Willingness to travel to client sites locally with some overnight travel
• Strong communication abilities to lead a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, multidiscipline design efforts and organize the technical team to deliver the project
• Contribute to engineering standards and specifications and evaluate their effectiveness
• Deliver small- to medium-scale projects within an established program plan
• Analyze information to specify methods and processes for design and improvements
• Manage day-to-day relationships with contract service providers under a contract management plan
• Develop personal capabilities through training and external accreditation
• Carry out inspections to evaluate quality of works and determine remedial actions
• Manage relationships with small clients and support senior staff in larger client engagements
