Qualifications

• Three years of prior experience reporting news.
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, broadcast communication or similar field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements a vision for KUNC's Colorado Water and Environment Desk.
• Reports, writes and produces original audio and digital stories that meet NPR standards.
• Develops stories with a solutions lens when appropriate.
• Cultivates diverse sources and uses FOIA, CORA, data mining to uncover stories.
• Plans, assigns, schedules, and edits desk-originated environmental coverage.
• Meets grant deliverables and maintains desk grants documentation.
• Builds sources lists for breaking news and ongoing coverage.
• Completes data analysis; requests records and verifies information.
• Generates news that goes beyond chronicling to drive impact.
• Attends newsroom meetings and participates in fundraising and promotions.

Education

High School Diploma or GED
