Job summary
KKCO, the NBC affiliate in Grand Junction, Colorado, is seeking a multimedia journalist to own stories from idea to air and publication. You will connect with audiences across television, digital, and social platforms, covering breaking news, enterprise reporting, and local interests in western Colorado.
We expect a strong storyteller with at least 3 years in the field, who can shoot, edit, and post content while meeting fast-paced deadlines.
Qualifications
- BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred.
- Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred.
Responsibilities
- Receive assignment or evaluate leads to develop story ideas.
- Gather and verify factual information via interview, observation, and research.
- Organize material, determine emphasis, and write to editorial standards.
- Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
- Edit, or assist in editing, videos for all platforms.
- Appear on TV program during taped interview or narration.
- Give live reports from event site or mobile unit.
- Collaborate with photographer when assigned.
- Assist news producer in preparing newscasts.
- Support online staff in multi media storytelling.
