Job summary

Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc. (AE2S) is seeking an Entry Level Water Engineer in Training (EIT) for Maple Grove, MN or Woodbury, MN.

You’ll work with veterans on water treatment, wastewater, and water resources projects, gaining practical design, assessment, and construction exposure while developing professional credentials. We offer mentorship, a clear path to licensure, and a collaborative environment focused on protecting communities and improving water quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • FE certification or ability to obtain.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers with the development, and preparation of plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Assist project managers in the design and solution of client projects.
  • Perform construction observation and administration on water related projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, memorandums, and presentations.
  • Work with Contractors to ensure the project document requirements, process, schedule, and related contractual obligations are understood by Contractors performing work for Owner

Entry Level Water Engineer in Training – Woodbury MN, or Maple Grove MN

As an entry-level engineer, you'll work alongside experienced professionals on meaningful projects from planning and design through construction. You'll gain hands‑on experience, receive mentorship from industry experts, and develop the technical and professional skills needed to become a successful engineer.

We are hiring across multiple practice areas, including:

  • Water – drinking treatment and distribution
  • Wastewater – treatment, modeling, and reuse
  • Water Resources – surface water, stormwater management, and flood risk mitigation
  • Rural Water – water supply, system development/regionalization

Compensation and Total Rewards

The anticipated salary range for this position is:

  • $63,000-$77,000
    • This salary range represents AE2S's good‑faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, technical expertise, licensure, certifications, education, geographic location, internal equity, and business needs.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Fundamentals in Engineering certified or ability to obtain
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel as required

Physical Requirements -
  • Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify causes of errors or defects
  • May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including flame‑resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear
  • May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
  • May be required to travel to off‑site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
