NYC Department of Environmental Protection invites applications for Scientist (Water Ecology) III in Valhalla, NY. Under the Section Chief, you will train personnel to analyze water quality samples and operate instrumentation, and you will collect samples from reservoirs and watershed sites.

The role requires mastery of water quality instrumentation, field sampling, data management, and the ability to work nights or weekends as needed.

Formación

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental/chemical engineering, limnology, environmental science, marine science, geology, biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, or health science.
• Bachelor's degree with 24 credits in related areas and at least 12 in those areas plus one year of relevant experience.
• An associate degree with 24 credits in related areas and at least 12 in those areas plus three years of relevant experience.

Responsabilidades

• Service, calibrate, and maintain laboratory and field instrumentation, biomonitoring systems, and telemetry.
• Collect samples and perform field analyses per SOPs.
• Install and upgrade monitoring equipment at water facilities.
• Diagnose and repair monitoring station equipment and telemetry systems.
• Coordinate procurement activities for the group.
• Oversee quality control procedures and maintain records and QC data.
• Respond to water quality emergencies and outside-hours investigations.
• Perform water quality sampling across the watershed using various techniques.
• Document data in paper and electronic formats.
