The City of Walla Walla seeks a journeyman Water Distribution Operator to perform skilled duties in the city’s water distribution system. You will work with a crew on meter maintenance, hydrant work, flushing, valve exercising and heavy equipment operation, supporting reliable water services.

You will collect data, maintain comprehensive records, assist in training, and respond to public inquiries and emergencies while adhering to safety guidelines and city standards.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or GED plus 12 months water distribution or treatment experience and 24 months related water system experience.
• Three years of heavy equipment operation in residential and commercial settings.
• Valid WA driver’s license; Class A CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsement.
• Valid WA DOH Water Distribution Manager Level 2 certification; excavation and confined space competencies.
• Any equivalent education/experience combination.

Aufgaben

• Operate heavy equipment and perform underground excavation as needed.
• Install, maintain, and repair meters, hydrants, and valves; conduct flushing and testing.
• Conduct leak detection, meter testing, and system data collection; maintain records.
• Respond to public inquiries and emergencies; participate in 7-day on-call rotation.
• Train junior operators and assist in department projects.
