Job summary

Golden State Water Company is seeking an entry-level Water Distribution Operator I in California. This training-status role reports under supervision and develops skills in operating and maintaining the water distribution system.

You will perform meter reads, customer interactions, and field investigations while participating in routine maintenance and equipment repairs. Emergency response availability and residency within 25 miles of the service area are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Good communication skills are required.
• General PC skills are required.
• A valid California driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Learns to operate and maintain the water distribution system.
• Uses tools and equipment properly for tasks.
• Assists in installation, repairs, and replacements of mains, services, valves, hydrants and meters.
• Interacts with customers and represents the company.
• Performs meter reads, on/offs, and field investigations.
• Participates in routine maintenance like flushing and valve exercising.
• Follows safety procedures and operates company vehicles as directed.
• Available for emergency response 24/7 and resides within 25 miles of the service area.
