Job summary

The City of Antioch is seeking to fill the Water Distribution Operator I/II position in the Public Works Department. The role supports the Water Distribution Division, ensuring a reliable supply of potable and non-potable water to residents, commercial, and irrigation customers.

Operators work with heavy equipment, perform installation/maintenance, respond to emergencies, and help maintain 339 miles of mains and thousands of connections per our city program.

Qualifications

• Must have California Driver's license (Class C) and obtain Class B within six months.
• Possession of a D-1 Water Distribution Operator Certificate within one year (Operator I) or D-2 for Operator II.
• Two levels with education/experience as described in the job posting.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain water distribution and non-potable water systems.
• Operate heavy equipment and tools; respond to emergencies as needed.
• Monitor compliance with regulations and maintain records of work performed.
