Job summary

The City of Boulder seeks a Water Distribution Operator I to join its Utilities Maintenance team. Under supervision, you will operate and perform basic maintenance on a large water distribution system, including mains, hydrants and meters, coordinating with other teams.

A strong safety record and customer service are essential. You will read drawings, perform leak repairs, locate utilities, and assist in after-hours emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Commercial Driver's License Class A or ability to obtain within nine months.
• Colorado Class 1 Water Distribution System Operator Certification or ability to obtain within nine months.
• Backhoe and Loader Certification or ability to obtain within nine months.
• ATSSA or equivalent Traffic Flagger Certification within nine months.
• OSHA 10-hour certification within nine months.

Responsibilities

• Constructs, maintains and repairs water mains, hydrants, valves and service lines.
• Reads design drawings, blueprints and maps and records measurements.
• Performs leak detection, troubleshooting and repairs on the distribution system.
• Responds to emergencies and after-hours standby duties as assigned.
• Maintains accurate records and uses asset management software.
