Job summary

The City of Renton is seeking a skilled Maintenance Services Worker 2 or 3 to support the Water Distribution section within Public Works. The role includes grounds maintenance, pipe work, meter installation, and equipment operation to ensure reliable water infrastructure and safety for the community.

Advanced duties for Worker 3 cover construction, maintenance of streets, pipelines, hydrants, and meters, requiring maps literacy, inventory management, and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• One year construction maintenance experience.
• Valid driver's license and safety certifications within specified timeframes.
• Background and driving record checks required.
• CDL is required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Perform general grounds maintenance including mowing, edging, weeding, planting, and pruning; apply chemicals to control pests.
• Assist in excavation and rechanneling ditches and load/unload materials.
• Operate heavy and light equipment and maintain vehicle and tools.
• Input data for records such as work orders, time, and materials use.
• Respond to customer questions and maintain public relations.
• Follow safety protocols and use PPE as required.
