MAINTENANCE WORKER I

DEFINITION
To perform semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance and related service activities related to the Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection systems.
This is the entry level class in the Maintenance Worker series. This class is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties of the Department, and by working under continual supervision.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives immediate supervision from Water Utilities Maintenance Supervisor, Water Utilities Maintenance Superintendent, or higher-level staff

Experience: This is an entry level position. Experience with manual labor, light or heavy equipment use, or general construction is desirable.
Training: Formal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
