Job summary

Travis County Water District 17 is seeking a Field Water Service Technician II in Austin, TX to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution and wastewater systems. This full-time, on-site role includes field inspections, troubleshooting outages, leaks, and low pressure, and documenting work to District standards.

You will read meters, assist with installations, follow safety protocols, and communicate clearly with customers and staff.

Qualifications

• Strong Maintenance & Repair skills for water and wastewater systems.
• Troubleshooting skills to diagnose field issues and implement solutions.
• Field Service experience to manage service orders outdoors in varied conditions.
• Customer Service skills to interact professionally with customers.
• Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater systems; map reading ability.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with good driving record; basic computer skills.
• Ability to meet physical requirements (lifting, bending, working in confined spaces).

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections and maintenance on valves, meters, service lines, and related equipment.
• Respond to service orders and customer calls in the field to resolve outages and leaks.
• Read meters, assist with installations and replacements, and document work per District standards.
• Coordinate with team members to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
• Maintain clear communication with customers and internal staff.
