Alabama Power Company – Environmental Affairs Water Compliance in Birmingham seeks an Environmental Engineer/Specialist to assist with water-related regulatory programs. This role supports SPCC, NEPA, and FERC-related compliance across multiple hydropower sites and departments.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and may favor PE licensure. You will train staff, prepare permit reports, and interact with regulatory agencies to ensure ongoing compliance and reporting accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; engineering or science-related field preferred.
• PE license in Alabama is a plus or ability to obtain licensure.
• Experience with environmental regulatory agencies and permitting processes.

Responsabilités

• Assist with and administer water-related environmental compliance programs and permits.
• Provide training and presentations on compliance requirements.
• Prepare water permit applications and reports; interpret regulations and guidance.
• Interface with regulatory agencies and internal/external customers; support NEPA and SPCC-related tasks.
