Job summary

The University of Florida seeks a Treatment Plant Operator I/II/III to operate the wastewater treatment plant, monitor compliance, and ensure safe, reliable facility operation. You will perform readings, data review, and corrective actions while maintaining logbooks and schedules.

Responsibilities include laboratory sampling, equipment maintenance, and shift work with potential weekends. A state operator’s license and post-offer health check are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with experience in wastewater operations.
• Florida wastewater operator certificate (Class A/B/C) depending on operator level.
• Willingness to undergo post-offer health assessment and background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate the wastewater treatment plant safely and maintain discharge compliance.
• Record instrumentation readings, review data and take corrective actions.
• Perform laboratory sampling and analysis; maintain logs and calibration sheets.
• Operate and maintain sludge de-watering equipment; support plant operations.
• Train operations staff when required and provide tours as needed.
