Job summary

GHD is seeking a Wastewater/Water Treatment Plant Operator based in Questa, NM. You will work with the Contamination Assessment Remediation Group, interfacing with clients, overseeing contractors, and serving as a trusted contact for the client.

Responsibilities include performing analysis, testing, project management, and data reporting, while maintaining safety and environmental standards. High school diploma plus NM certifications are required, with strong technical and communication skills

Qualifications

  • NMED Grade 3 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification and NMED Grade 3 Wastewater Operator Certification.
  • Prior wastewater treatment plant experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for periods of time, lift up to 40 pounds occasionally, and work outdoors part-time throughout the year as needed.
  • Ability to analyze field readings, data and operating parameters to optimize system operations.
  • Must have an Arizona driver’s license and a clean driving record.

  • Testing: Develop product specifications and design test procedures and standards.
  • Project Management: Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities.
  • Insights and Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities and formal and informal training and coaching. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
  • Product and Solution Development: Carry out a range of product development and engineering activities, using established systems to analyze customer needs and define and deliver products.
  • Work Scheduling and Allocation: Design own monthly schedule and, if necessary, assign work to others to speed up office workflow and ensure high-priority tasks get done.
  • Equipment Installation: Help specialists set up and test new products or processes; install complex systems with guidance.
  • Plant and Machinery Maintenance and Repair: Maintain and repair complex plant and machinery, supervise the work of team members and contractors to ensure operational requirements and regulatory health, safety, and environmental standards are met.

Position Overview

Education
  • High School education required.
Experience
  • New Mexico Environmental Department (NMED) Grade 3 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification and NMED Grade 3 Wastewater Operator Certification.
