Job summary

City of Cincinnati MSD Wastewater Engineering Division is seeking a Spring Semester College Co-op Student Intern starting January 18, 2027. This role offers hands-on experience in engineering data analysis, GIS applications, database management, and program development within a utility environment.

You will collect and organize data from multiple sources, develop ArcGIS maps, run SQL queries, use Python to automate tasks, and help deliver dashboards and reports that support risk reduction and

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Computer Science, Data Analytics, GIS, Engineering Technology or related technical discipline
• Experience with ArcGIS or geographic information systems is preferred
• Coursework or experience in database management and SQL required
• Experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis recommended
• Familiarity with Python or another programming language is a plus
• Understanding of data visualization techniques is helpful
• Strong organizational and analytical skills and ability to work with large datasets

Responsibilities

• Collect and organize data from multiple internal and external sources
• Develop GIS‑based maps and dashboards using ArcGIS
• Perform data analysis using SQL, Excel, Python and related tools
• Manage large datasets related to infrastructure, environmental conditions, flow and rainfall monitoring
• Support project tracking, documentation, and reporting activities
• Identify data quality improvements and standardization opportunities
• Create visualizations and summaries for stakeholders
