Job summary

The Town of Cary is seeking a Wastewater System Technician II to maintain the sewer collection system and easement network across 1,000+ miles of lines, 26K manholes, and 270 miles of storm drains. You will operate jet-vac trucks, perform inspections, and respond to spills while leading a small crew and coordinating with contractors.

Ideal candidates have tree-cutting experience and CDL eligibility, with emphasis on safety, documentation, and independent work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with wastewater maintenance experience preferred.
• Grade II Wastewater Collection Certification required or obtainable within 1 year.
• NIMS ICSS 100/700 training is required (or provided).

Responsibilities

• Operate jet-vac truck to clean storm drains and sanitary lines.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on wastewater systems and easements.
• Respond to sewer calls and spills; standby on-call after hours.
• Mow and clear easements; inspect manholes and easements for maintenance.
• Use acoustic testing to identify cleaning needs; locate manholes and map lines.
• Coordinate with contractors for line video inspections; document work performed.
