We seek talented individuals from all backgrounds to help us address a broad range of water and environmental issues. We prioritize our people, offering opportunities for professional growth, ownership, and flexibility. That’s how we make a difference to our clients, people, and the planet.

What’s in it for you: Woodard & Curran is offering a unique opportunity to join our Tampa, Florida office, providing high-quality wastewater/water engineering services to municipal clients nationwide. The successful candidate will be a motivated, growth-oriented professional who can support the growth of the South Region Wastewater/Water Team and multi-discipline project teams from the concept, final design, construction phases, start-up, and operations of facilities. You will have staff to mentor and clients to support. You will have engineers to support you, and our integrated operations and SCADA team will help you deliver an enhanced product. You will actively participate in our delivery system improvement programs and continuous learning opportunities.

Who are we looking for:

The selected candidate will primarily lead the project management and engineering on municipal wastewater projects; however, experience with drinking water, storm water, and industrial wastewater applications is valuable. This position will give you an opportunity to direct and collaborate with a team of junior staff. The ideal candidate is a Project Manager with solid experience in the study, planning, and design of wastewater/water systems, including familiarity with a broad range of issues related to master planning, treatment, and collection/distribution in water or wastewater systems. The candidate will lead the project management and technical delivery of multiple projects, must be familiar with local regulators, and must also be able to support marketing and proposal efforts, as appropriate.

What you will be doing at Woodard & Curran:
  • Supports the growth of the South Region Wastewater/Water Team and multi-discipline project teams from the concept, final design, and construction phases to the start-up and operations of facilities.
  • Directly manages project tasks' financial and technical delivery, including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Ability to function as the technical lead for all sizes of projects, including having interaction related to all technical tasks associated with the project.
  • Supports discipline leads with determining technical approaches for specific tasks.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations to internal and/or external clients/professional societies and participates in committees and other external leadership opportunities through professional associations and other applicable organizations.
  • Supports the pursuit of new projects in concert with the Business Development Team, including developing the approach and scope and providing input on budget.
  • Provides input on developing Woodard & Curran design or technical guidelines and standards.
What you need to succeed:
  • The successful candidate should have substantial project and technical management expertise in civil and environmental engineering and an in-depth understanding of the engineering concepts associated with all types of municipal wastewater/water systems, including collection system infrastructure and wastewater treatment processes.
  • 12+ years of experience in evaluating, planning, designing, and constructing wastewater/water engineering projects.
  • Lead technical engineer for at least 3+ wastewater/water treatment facility designs (new or expansion).
  • Have substantial Florida wastewater/water project experience.
  • A B.S. degree in civil, mechanical, chemical, or environmental engineering, or an M.S. degree, is preferred.
  • Registered Professional Engineering Florida (or ability to apply for reciprocity within 6 months of hire).
  • Up to date on the latest technological advances, regulatory trends, equipment, and processes.
  • Ability to support and/or lead strategic initiatives to develop and expand business opportunities with new clients and geographies.
  • Well-versed in state and local regulations regarding wastewater/water treatment and collection/distribution systems.
  • Knowledgeable in Florida bidding laws and SRF programs.
  • Superior writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to coach, mentor, and train individuals.
$120,000 - $160,000 a year

This position’s anticipated pay range is provided above; the final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will depend on experience level and consider a percentage-based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working.
