Woodard & Curran is seeking a dynamic Project Engineer to join our Water Team in Andover, MA. You will collaborate with municipal clients to design and deliver wastewater infrastructure projects across Massachusetts and New England, leading design efforts and coordinating with internal teams.

The ideal candidate holds 4–9 years of engineering experience, a B.S. in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering, and is a Massachusetts-registered Professional Engineer (or eligible for reciprocity).

  • Performing Construction Administration tasks, including submittals, RFIs, and contractor payments.
  • Developing and monitoring project schedules and budgets.
  • Mentoring junior staff and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

Woodard & Curran is currently seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and client-focused Professional Engineer to join our Water Team as a Project Engineer. In this role, you will collaborate with our municipal clients to develop, design, and deliver a variety of wastewater infrastructure projects across Massachusetts and the New England region.

The ideal candidate will be technically focused, with strong experience in the evaluation, planning, design, and construction of wastewater infrastructure. Familiarity with a broad range of practice areas, including collection systems, pumping facilities, treatment systems, master planning, and permitting, is preferred. In collaboration with our Project and Technical Managers, you will help lead the technical delivery of multiple projects, work directly with clients and internal teams, and support business development, marketing, and proposal efforts. You will be an active participant in company and Wastewater Practice initiatives and will have access to the firm’s senior technical staff and managers.

Just to name a few, these projects may include:
  • Municipal wastewater system upgrades, including collection system infrastructure, pumping system hydraulics, and wastewater treatment processes

  • Collection system assessments, planning, design, and rehabilitation, including the use of trenchless technologies

  • Pumping station evaluation, design, and rehabilitation

  • Asset management planning and municipal wastewater infrastructure programs

Offering Flexible Remote/Hybrid Work Schedule: Expectation is 2 to 3 days in the office or onsite with clients.
Travel up to 10%: Local travel to clients in Massachusetts and the New England Region
What you will be doing at Woodard & Curran:
  • Leading the design of, or portions of design for, collection system, pumping station, and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Conducting field investigations, condition assessments, and data collection to support planning, rehabilitation, and design efforts.
  • Demonstrating strong and proactive communication skills with project teams and clients throughout project execution.
  • Performing Construction Administration services, including coordinating and conducting submittal reviews, reviewing contractor requests for information (RFIs), and reviewing contractor payment applications.
  • Developing and monitoring project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Working on multiple projects simultaneously and meeting the needs of each project in a professional, reliable, and organized manner.
  • Coordinating your work and the work of junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Making decisions independently or with appropriate oversight on engineering problems and methods.
  • Working with and coordinating multidisciplinary teams, including civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, geotechnical, and survey personnel, both internally and through subconsultants.
  • Working with AutoCAD software and providing guidance to designers/drafters on design drawing production.
  • Mentoring and directing junior staff on technical assignments and reviewing technical work completed by engineers under supervision.
  • Interacting with clients and professionally representing the firm.
  • Spending time in the field or on construction projects, as applicable.
  • Coordinating with contractors and clients during construction to ensure projects are executed in accordance with contract documents, specifications, and drawings.
  • Interfacing with local and state regulatory agencies.
  • Assisting with proposal development and pursuit of new opportunities.
  • Participating in professional associations.
What you will need to succeed:
  • 4-9 years of engineering experience.
  • B.S. Degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts (or ability to apply for reciprocity).

$105,000 - $125,000 a year

Andover, MA = $105,000 – $125,000

This position’s anticipated pay range is provided; the final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will depend on experience level and consider a percentage-based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials recognize and reflect the cost of labor differences between geographic markets.
