Job summary

The City of Turlock is seeking qualified applicants for Wastewater Plant Operator I/II to operate and monitor the city's wastewater treatment facilities on an assigned shift. The role involves semi-skilled work under supervision, with potential advancement to Operator II upon certification and experience.

Wage scales are listed per Operator level, and the position may involve overtime and standby duties. An eligibility list will be established and a probationary period will apply.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid California driver’s license at time of appointment.
• Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification within 18 months from date of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate wastewater treatment facilities to control flow, monitor gauges, meters, and panels.
• Input plant operation data into computer systems and plot trends.
• Perform routine maintenance on valves, tanks, and related equipment.
• Collect samples and conduct routine laboratory tests.
• Assist in training and supervision of junior operators as assigned.
