Job summary

The City of Eureka is seeking a Certified Treatment Plant Operator to join the Utilities Division on an assigned shift. This entry-to-journey level position requires operating and maintaining water and/or wastewater facilities, assisting with preventive maintenance, and providing technical support.

Applicants must hold a California Water/Wastewater Operator Certificate (Grade I or II) and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Completion of the 12th grade or equivalent educational background.
• Possession of a California Water/Wastewater Operator Certificate is required.
• Ability to operate, monitor and maintain treatment plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor plant operations and adjust settings to meet efficiency and safety standards.
• Interpret lab tests and adjust processes to optimize performance.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, charts and reports.
• Operate and perform routine maintenance on pumps, valves and related equipment.
• Ensure safe handling of chemicals and compliance with regulations.
