Job summary

The City of Chattanooga is seeking a Plant Operator 2 for the Wastewater - Liquid Waste Handling division at 455 Moccasin Bend Rd, Chattanooga, TN. This full-time role performs operation and monitoring of wastewater treatment processes in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities include operating pumps, collecting samples, recording data, and maintaining plant equipment. A high school diploma or GED with related wastewater training and six months of experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED supplemented by vocational/technical training in wastewater treatment plant operations or related field.
• Six months of work experience in a wastewater treatment plant, operating chemical processing equipment, clarifiers, collecting and lab testing samples, sludge inventory, adjusting flows and/or reading meters.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment and facilities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Collect samples and perform standard tests; log data and prepare reports.
• Read meters and gauges, adjust processes, and maintain accurate records and logs.
• Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping duties as required.
