Job summary

Chattanooga is seeking a Plant Operator 1 for the Wastewater - Pump Stations department. You will assist with operating, maintaining and monitoring wastewater processes, reading meters and collecting samples as required.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position at 455 Moccasin Bend Rd in Chattanooga, with standard daytime hours. This role requires a High School Diploma or GED and offers growth within the city’s public works team, along with safety and attendance expectations and opportunities

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent training.
• Knowledge of basic wastewater systems and plant operations preferred.
• Ability to read meters, record data and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operating, maintaining and monitoring wastewater processes.
• Read meters and gauges; transfer sludge; manage valves and gates; collect samples for lab.
• Maintain logbooks and records; ensure attendance and safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the department.
